Let us we discuss about how to relocate redo log members file one location into another location by using their statement "ALTER DATABASE" .

First we check the location of redo log member location in database

  SQL> select member from V$logfile;

 MEMBER
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
/u01/app/oracle/oradata/orcl/redo03.log
/u01/app/oracle/oradata/orcl/redo02.log
/u01/app/oracle/oradata/orcl/redo01.log

Here i'm relocate the redo log file (redo03.log) from /u01 mount point into /u02 location before that process we  must shut down database

shut immediate

then manually move the file from one  location into another place

mv /u01/app/oracle/oradata/orcl/redo03.log /u02/redo03.log

put our database in  mount stage

 SQL>startup mount
 ORACLE instance started.

 Total System Global Area 318046208 bytes
 Fixed Size                  1336260 bytes
 Variable Size             226495548 bytes
 Database Buffers           83886080 bytes
 Redo Buffers                6328320 bytes
 Database mounted.

now we use these  command for  alter database command  "ALTER DATABASE RENAME FILE 'old location ' to 'new location' "

  SQL> alter database rename file '/u01/app/oracle/oradata/orcl/redo03.log' to '/u02/redo03.log';

  Database altered.

Note : if you want to rename the redo log member just replace the  name in after ' to location '

in above command and manually rename the file also then we change the database mode from mount into open

 SQL> alter database open;

 Database altered.

now we check the redolog member file in V$logfile whether it has been changed or not

  SQL> select member from V$logfile;

  MEMBER
  --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  /u02/redo03.log
  /u01/app/oracle/oradata/orcl/redo02.log
  /u01/app/oracle/oradata/orcl/redo01.log
