Rman Configuration Parameter Part-2

we already discuss some Parameter in our previous blog let us we will remaining parameters.

s-1:

The next parameter we are going to see

RMAN> CONFIGURE DEVICE TYPE DISK PARALLELISM 1 BACKUP TYPE TO BACKUPSET; #default

to allocate the channels to perform the backup i.e here channels are no of the background process,
our default backup storage type is disk so when we issued backup without allocating channels
it would take default parallelism channels

Note: before allocating channels we should check CPU cores

RMAN> CONFIGURE DEVICE TYPE DISK PARALLELISM 2 BACKUP TYPE TO BACKUPSET;

s-2:

in our environment we were using retention policy is recovery window at the same

we would take backup 2 copies (change the value 1 into 2) that situation we could use this parameter otherwise redundancy is enough

RMAN>CONFIGURE DATAFILE BACKUP COPIES FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO 1; # default

if we need to one more archive log copies that time we can use this parameter

by default is 1 then you have to mention no of copies as your requirement

RMAN>CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG BACKUP COPIES FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO 1; # default

s-3:

this is the parameter which will govern the size of the backup set for
ex: if we are taking 1Tb database backup in every 100gb the backup set would over
then next backup set would be started till the backup is over

RMAN>CONFIGURE MAXSETSIZE TO UNLIMITED; # default

s-4:

we need to take our backup in encryption format Rman would this below parameter and format

RMAN>CONFIGURE ENCRYPTION FOR DATABASE OFF; # default
RMAN> CONFIGURE ENCRYPTION ALGORITHM 'AES128'; #default

Note: in real time no one will use this parameter

s-5:

To the backup output in a compressed, this parameter would use for it anyway rman will take use blocks even
we need to take the Rman backup to compress some algorithm used i.e "Basic"

RMAN>CONFIGURE COMPRESSION ALGORITHM 'BASIC' AS OF RELEASE 'DEFAULT' OPTIMIZE FOR LOAD TRUE; # default

s-6:

This parameter is used to delete the archive log (i.e if we mentioned 2 days it 'll delete previous two days archives
because we already took backup of archive log)from the no of days which will protect the disk space.

RMAN>CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG DELETION POLICY TO NONE; # default

s-7:

This parameter would backup the controlfile in snapshot format

RMAN> CONFIGURE SNAPSHOT CONTROLFILE NAME TO 'C:\ORACLEXE\APP\ORACLE\PRODUCT\11.2.0\SERVER\DATABASE\SNCFXE.ORA'; # default
